Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is defined as the therapeutic use of physical agents or means, by using evidence-based kinesiology, electrotherapy, exercise prescription, joint mobilization and health education.

At First Chiropractic, we utilize physiotherapy as an important tool to help our patients regain the abilities they had prior to injury. Utilizing physiotherapy along with other services, such as a chiropractic adjustment will provide a higher level of healing.

In essence, the term physiotherapy indicates more of a hands-on approach as compared to taking drugs for pain and inflammation. Of the three main types of physiotherapy, First Chiropractic utilizes musculoskeletal physiotherapy. Musculoskeletal physiotherapy can be used to treat injuries such as sprains, back pain, muscle strains, arthritis, and posture problems.

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

Manual physiotherapy can include joint manipulation or mobilization, manual resistance training, stretching, and massage.  These physical modalities will contribute to the overall healing and health of the spine and joint complexes. We work with each patient on a case by case basis to determine what services will work best for their situation.

Many times, a patient may only need chiropractic adjustments.  However other times the patient may have experienced trauma and would require a more comprehensive approach.  Once the doctor has met with you, he will determine the best course of action, and design a treatment plan specifically for you and your condition. You’re in good hands (quite literally) at First Chiropractic.

Improve your Alignment

We treat many different types of injuries at First Chiropractic.  Auto accidents, slip and falls, falls from heights, and work-related injuries. Many of our patients have little to no pain but get adjusted regularly to stay pain free. Staying properly “aligned” and maintaining movement in your joints is important for your health. A joint that is not moving properly will become inflamed and cause pain. Chiropractic adjustments help to maintain proper alignment and movement.

A Chiropractic adjustment has many benefits besides just proper movement. One of the best things about receiving chiropractic adjustments is that they are a completely drug-free path to healing the body naturally. A few of the researched benefits include: neck pain, back pain, scoliosis, headaches, arthritis, sciatica, frozen shoulder, decrease stress, improved athletic performance and increased circulation.

Restore Natural Curvature

Our spine begins to take shape the first few months of our lives and has all the normal curvatures completed within the first couple years of life.  Maintaining the curves is important for pain free function of the spine. There are many conditions that can cause a loss of curvature, such as: degenerative disc disease, trauma, surgery, and excessive computer or cellphone usage (text neck). Using a combination of techniques, we can begin to restore lost or decreased curvature.

If you are in pain or notice you are beginning to look a bit hunched over, it’s time to see us.  We work with patients of all age levels to improve their overall health. At First Chiropractic, we always examine the entire body to establish what is causing the pain and develop a treatment plan accordingly.  Give us a Call! 702-209-2525.
